Cherry Laurel hedging has a relatively fast growth rate of around 30 – 60cm per year, making it an economical way to achieve height. In fact, Cherry Laurel can easily grow to between 20 – 30ft high over time, but it is easy to maintain to a lower height. It is also resilient and grows well in most conditions, including in shaded areas, although it is not the most suitable choice for coastal gardens or alkaline soil. Just like most hedges in the Laurel family – other than Bay Laurel – the leaves and berries are harmful if consumed.
