Empathy afterplant is designed to be used on plants grown in garden soil. It has a two stage process: firstly to be a source of plant available nutrients derived from the most sustainable and natural sources possible. Secondly, to enhance your soil with the addition of beneficial microbes (mycorrhizal fungi and beneficial soil bacteria) that will act to liberate more nutrients from the soil over time. Much of the synthetic fertiliser applied to soil never becomes plant available, either due to leaching or becoming locked in the soil. The mycorrhizal fungi and beneficial bacteria in afterplant help to unlock these nutrients providing a sustained food source to plants. The bacteria included in afterplant also act to fix nitrogen present in the air into a form that plants can use. Afterplant is not designed to replace rootgrow but rather to keep the soil biology topped up over the season. We always recommend the application of rootgrow at time of planting to provide good mycorrhizal colonisation for optimal plant health
As a guide, sprinkle 1-2 handfuls around the base of the plant and lightly fork into the soil. Water well. The individual products in the range do vary so always check the planting instructions on the pack.
