Dog rose or Rosa Canina is a native deciduous hedge plant. It has lovely pink and white flower in the summer followed by berries in the autumn, a popular wildlife friendly variety that helps give shelter and food. Dog rose is most notable for its prickly stems that make this a good intruder proof hedge plant and is most commonly used as part of a mixed native hedgerow. Dog rose will tolerate most soil types and do well in all locations, a faster growth rate at 40-6ocm per annum.
