Hazel or Corylus Avellana is a native deciduous hedging plant. Most commonly used in a mixed native hedge this is wildlife friendly variety which flowers in spring and nuts that are ripe in September that the squirrels love. Hazel is fine in most soil types and locations and will even tolerate full shade, it has a quick growth rate at 40-60cm per annum. Hazel is available in bare root and pot grown forms but is most commonly used as a bare root whip in mixed native hedgerows.
