Calendula “Art Shades” seeds produce masses of fully double blooms in vibrant shades of orange, gold, and yellow. Although it is unrelated to the African and French marigolds, the calendula is sometimes referred to as the “pot marigold”, “Scotch marigold”, or “ruddles”. These plants are ideal for flower beds, borders, and cottage gardens, and the richly coloured flowers attract many beneficial insects. They are easy to grow annuals that flower the same year as sowing. The petals are edible and make an excellent addition to salads, and can also be used to flavour stews and soups.
