Willow or salix caprea is a native deciduous hedging plant or tree. Willow will have nice yellow flowers in the summer and berries in the autumn meaning this native variety is another popular hedge for local wildlife. Willow will tolerate most soil types but particularly enjoys wet soils and is fine in most locations, growth rate is 30-60cm per annum. Willow is available in bare root and pot grown forms, most commonly used as a bare root whip and can be included in a mixed native hedgerow.
